Scammers then create their own ‘for sale’ or ‘for rent’ listings in effort to extort money from potential home buyers- often asking for money upfront to ‘hold’ the home or ask for a down payment via cash or wire transfer before they send you the keys.  NEVER send money. Call your real estate agent!
